A few weeks ago I posted this photo above on Instagram and hinted that there would be something a bit different about this DIY, and since then I've been so anxious to show you the result and tell you all about it. Starting with this DIY, I have been asked to do a series of DIY articles for Houzz, the interior design and inspiration platform, and I am so excited and flattered that they approached me about this! Also, because the articles over at Houzz will be so detailed with step-by-step instructions I won't post any guides for these DIYs here, but instead refer you over to their page (where you can also find so many more inspiring articles, I've gotten lost for hours!).
This first DIY that I'm doing for Houzz is one that I've had in mind for a long time, and although I love the look of it, I'm especially excited about the idea that you can change the dome to anything you have lying around the house, vases, bowls or anything else. This smoky grey dome that I've used in these first photos is actually a tiny bowl by H&M Home that I've had for a while but not really found a place for, so I was so happy when it fit perfectly for this project!
I also had to try some other pieces that I had at home to test my theory, and I found this little clear glass vase that also turned out to work perfectly. Being clear glass, it gives a more neutral light than the smoky one, depending on the rest of your interior!
